Porting to Windows Mobile



Requirements

Porting and testing an existing Qt application module over Windows mobile using Qt framework for Windows Mobile.

System Overview

This is a test application to check Qt framework uses over windows mobile operating system and efficiency for hand held devices. Client wanted to see if a particular application component works well using Qt for Windows mobile to test qt functionality and future possibilities for Fotobook client application over windows mobile devices. This application displays multiple graphics views and graphics scenes with different items on them; application also has a few context menus. User can select one page to edit. Selected page is displayed in bigger view. While being edited, items show similar effect on both the views. All the items can be scaled (maintaining aspect ratio) and rotated. Grid feature can also be used to precise item positions.

Implementation

  1. Qt compilation for Windows Mobile 5 and 6
  2. Performance and Memory management to enable loading big images keeping device constraints in mind. Loading and unloading images on demand.
  3. Maintaining aspect ratio and image quality while scaling and rotating.

Tools

  1. Visual Studio 9.
  2. Qt WinCE Windows Mobile SDK (5 and 6).
  3. Active Sync
